What these Associations Tell Us
The differences in my two lists of associations would be that my first list overall was more focused on the creative and fun aspect of the buyer’s job, but in the second list I learned more about the technical side of things that come along with the job. It’s not all about being fashionable and innovative, a buyer must also be able to understand numbers from sales and other statistics the job may require observation of. There is a very tactical side to the buyer’s job that is just as important as the creative and innovative side. Being commercial and appealing to the target audience is important to making sure the clothes the buyer chooses are going to do well in stores. Buyers and their merchandisers have to team up in order to design sales promotions and displays for the new products picked by the buyer. It’s a collaborative job that requires both team work and self-motivation.
